♡⊹˚₊𓅰 about 𓅰₊˚⊹♡

✿ Moricari Press ✿ is the personal pet project of local Winnipeg cartoonist Natalie Mark 麥月明. They hope to share cute, weird, and charming indie comics in the prairies!'Cari' from the yummy pocari sweat drinks meaning, 'light and lively' and 'mori' meaning forest... where paper comes from.Let's make comics, eat snacks, and play! Here is a song I like:

⋆˖⁺‧₊☽ risograph ☾₊‧⁺˖⋆

Risograph is a printing process using soy-based or rice bran ink. Risograph machines or duplicators merge the techniques of screen printing with the efficiency of a xerox photocopier, printing one colour at a time. The image or artwork is seared on a 'master' and all paper passing through will repeat the same image with the ink colour. This process is repeated with the next ink drum after creating a different master, repeating the process with as little as 1 colour or multiple. The colours produced are unique and create a very beautiful tactile analogue look. Sometimes there are small misalignments or printer marks which can add charm - RISO will always have these errors due to the nature of the process, but I think that's what makes it fun!

I finally made and published this website. It's pretty barebones and may change in the future (^ - ^). I am still trying to get my corner of the space set up with plans for a shelf and a desk.
In the meantime, I opened a submission form to collect art for printing!I am collecting artwork to print and exhibit for Moricari Press' launch this fall! I will be using the artwork to play with the riso, and the prints will be used to celebrate, showcase, and fund raise for the launch of the printer.Details in the google form link: artwork submission form--March 13, 2025
Riso moving day!!! With the help of my older brother, a family friend, and a small but mighty group of my friends, we have officially moved the printer from former parameter press into TakeHome BIPOC Arthouse <3 I am excited for this new journey! Although it will be a while until I can settle in (comics festivals, jobs, life, etc.) I am very excited to get to printing! Here are some photos!
